1957 Blonde Cutaway Gibson Super 400CN

images via this auction

"Here is a very rare and very beautiful 1957 blonde cutaway Gibson Super 400CN (serial no. A-25297; FON: U 4814 7 – see photos) archtop guitar with no breaks or cracks anywhere. This is the absolute top of the line and height of the golden era!!! Very nice spruce top and heavily flamed maple back, sides and neck (these photos do not nearly capture the depth or breadth of the flame!). Original Kluson Sealfast tuners; original truss rod cover; original tailpiece and endpin; original pickguard, mounting hardware and added vintage DeArmond floating pickup – no extra holes were drilled; original Brazilian single-foot bridge and saddle; 100% original blonde finish all around with no touch up or overspray; original 7 and 5 ply binding is tight and nicely aged; original ebony fretboard and inlaid position markers; original Lifton case in very good condition inside and out. It has been refretted with era correct fret wire and plays and sounds as only a 50’s Super 400 can – HUGE SOUND AND PROJECTION!!! There is also a vintage 50’s Les Paul strap button added (see photo). Only 72 blonde cutaway Super 400’s were made and shipped from 1948 – 1961 and only 14 in ’57."
