Gibson Flying V 1969 / 70 Vintage Mahogany Guitar

via this auction

"This is a vintage 1969 / 70 all mahogany Gibson Flying V. It is unusual, possibly a transition model. It has all the hardware and features of a 1st reissue 60's guitar, but the headstock has a volute, making it more sturdy. There is NO "made in USA" imprint. It has the 60's nylon bridge saddles. Whereas the medalion series had metal button tuners, this guitar has the green tulip tuners. The pickups are PAT#. The impressed serial number is 966965. I contacted Gibson to try and accurately date the guitar, but due to the inconsistency of serial numbering, all they could tell me is that it was likely manufactured between late 1969 and early 1970. Since posting this, I have had a fellow eBayer suggest that the guitar is from 1975-8."
