1958 GIBSON ES-5 SWITCHMASTER

via this auction
"Here we have for sale probably the finest guitar ever to be made by Gibson, the ES-5 Switchmaster guitar. This is a rare find. Only 55 of these beauties were crafted in 1958. Known as “the instrument of a thousand voices”, the ES-5 Switchmaster was first introduced by Gibson in 1949. It was initially intended for Jazz players but was quickly recognized as a guitar which could handle any venue with ease. This guitar offers 3 separately controlled PAF Humbucking pickups, which allows for total control of tonal variations. In 1957 Gibson introduced the Humbucking pickup. These early Humbuckers were dubbed PAF’s & their value has soared to astronomical levels because of their superior tonal qualities. This guitar has all three of its original PAF’s.

This guitar is all original and plays with a comfort & ease hard to imagine. Each pickup has its own volume & tone knobs for the ultimate in control. The guitar is made with impeccable accuracy & craftsmanship. It’s clearly Gibson’s finest offering. The on board PAF’s are the same ones found on the ’58 Holy Grail Les Paul Standard, which can claim prices upwards of $300,000.00. Along with its Gold hardware, it sports an ultra rare & original Bigsby tremolo tailpiece & 5-ply binding all around the top, back & headstock. Gibson really went all out in designing this elegant & versatile instrument. The body and neck are made from high-grade & figured Maple, and its fretboard is Brazilian Rosewood. No Breaks Or Repairs On This Beauty. It’s All Original."
