The date stamp on the bottom of the neck reads “7MAR64A”, and the original color of the body appears to have been Candy Apple Red, which would have been a very rare color to begin with! Why it was refinished, we’ll never know. But the refinish was completed some time ago by none other than Nashville’s Joe Glaser, which just happens to be one of the world’s best guitar luthiers. If you’ve never heard of Joe Glaser, Google his name and you’ll see that his list of clients include the likes of Eric Clapton, Vince Gill, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, etc., etc., etc. … you get the picture.
For the record, this bass was also recently “borrowed” by legendary bassist Willie Weeks, who used it on a few sessions here in Nashville. Again, if you don’t know who Willie Weeks is, Google his name and you’ll see he keeps pretty good company!.."
