1964 GIBSON FIREBIRD VII REVERSE

via this auction | guitar-collector (RSS)

"For sale is this vintage 1964 Gibson Firebird VII electric guitar. This particular example, serial number 155672, is in very excellent all original condition and includes the original hard case! Extremely rare, with production under 200 total, this variety reverse Firebird VII is the exact style made famous by The Rolling Stones' Brian Jones. With advanced appointments, gold hardware, an extra pickup and a catalog list price of $455.00, the Firebird VII wasn't simply Gibson's most decorated guitar in the Firebird line, rather, it was a serious statement. While it shared the same upgraded appointments as a late-'50s Les Paul Custom (3 pickups, gold hardware, block inlays, Ebony fingerboard, etc.) it is certainly more spectacular in presentation, and more functional in relation to the more standard variations as well. Similar examples have sold for upward of $25,000.00, so this has been priced to sell. Don't miss out on this rare opportunity to own one of Gibson's rarest guitars ever produced!

Serial Number: 155672
Pot Codes: 137 64xx (CTS)
Weight: 7 lbs. 15 oz.

Just shy of an extremely excellent condition rating, this '64 Firebird VII is in very excellent all original condition. With absolutely no structural nor originality issues whatsoever, this is about as nice as they come. The frets were replaced approximately 25 years ago with medium-jumbos, otherwise it is perfectly preserved. The finish is beautifully intact, the contours are crisp and clean, and the parts are quite nice. It weighs just shy of 8 pounds, and at 7 lbs. and 15 oz., feels fantasticly light. The comfortable neck shape is consistent throughout, and does not exhibit a slim taper nature. The overall playability is excellent, and even though the medium jumbo frets are not vintage spec., they make it very enjoyable to play. Comfortable and inspirational, it's certainly one of the best I've played. The pickups are perfectly balanced with cohesive resistance ratings.

This '64 Firebird VII features: reverse body shape, profile, and construction, a (3) Pat. No. mini-humbucker pickup configuration, pickguard, Gold hardware, ABR-1 tune-o-matic bridge, Maestro Lyre Vibrola tailpiece, gold top hat knobs with gold inserts, Kluson banjo tuners, Ebony fingerboard with Mother of Pearl block inlays, silver shielded cavities, all gold hardware and the original hard case.

Purchased from a long time collector and player, this guitar is uncirculated and has remained in the possession of a single owner for the last 30 years."
